How to Perfect Your Business Instagram Bio to Get Attention

How to Perfect Your Business Instagram Bio to Get Attention

As a social media manager, I've learned that many people heavily focus on their Instagram content.

And don’t get me wrong – that’s great!

It’s generally the Instagram content that people will see that draws them to your profile.

You’ve probably done this yourself. You see a video or photo you like and head to the profile to learn more about the person or brand.

But what happens when you get there, and their Instagram bio is lacking – or worse – completely blank?

You’d think it’s a fake profile, lose interest and leave.

That’s why ensuring your business Instagram bio is done well is hugely important.

This guide will help you perfect your business Instagram bio, ensuring that you get the right attention and gain loyal followers.

What is your Instagram bio, how long should it be, and why does it matter?

Your business Instagram bio sits at the top of your profile. It allows you to explain what you do in 150 characters.

Your business Instagram bio should include:

·         Your name and username (your @handle)

·         Profile photo and branding

·         Instagram bio copy

·         Bio links

·         Category (where your brand falls)

·         Call to action

·         Contact information

Your bio helps establish your brand presence. Depending on how the person found you, it may be their first impression of you and your brand. It’s your space to showcase what you do and tell people why they should follow you.

Let’s explore how to perfect your business’ Instagram bio to make people stop, take notice, and follow you.

Top 7 Tips for Creating a Standout Business Instagram Bio

1. Use keywords

Your Instagram bio is another opportunity to use your keywords so people looking for what you do can find you. When you describe what you do, incorporate your keywords so search engines can discover your profile.

2. Keep your Instagram bio short and sweet

You only have 150 characters to play with, so your Instagram bio needs to be short and sweet. Making your bio easy to read is the key, so use bullet points to allow people to quickly scan what you have to say.

3. Write your Instagram bio with your brand personality

Your Instagram bio is perfect for letting your brand personality shine through. Use the language and tone of your brand and incorporate this throughout your bio. This helps you to establish your brand authority and authenticity.

4. Use emojis sparingly in your Instagram bio

Emojis are a fun way to add personality to your bio; however, you shouldn’t overdo them. They look great when used as bullet point starters or scattered throughout your bio, but too many may make your profile look less professional.

5. Include a call to action

Your Instagram bio is a great way to direct people where you want them to go. For example, your call to action could be to visit your website, book a call, shop your feed, read your latest blog, download your freebie or share photos of your product using a branded hashtag.

6. Add your contact information

In addition to the direct message function, Instagram allows you to add a contact button to let your followers know how to reach you. It’s a fantastic way to give followers a quick way to get in touch rather than searching for ways to contact you. The contact button doubles as a call to action when you make it read as ‘email’ or ‘call now’.

7. Use the link in the Instagram bio tool

The bio link section allows you to create clickable links on your Instagram bio. Use these wisely! Many people will link to their website or a unique sales landing page. Using the ‘link in bio’ tool allows you to add 5 links, which takes the user to a landing page with featured content or products.
