The birth of a business on a mountain peak of South America
How Sam Says came to life while trekking through Machu Picchu
The Christmas/New Year break is generally the perfect time for many small business owners to take a break. The weather is fine, our family is home, and many of our client’s businesses are closed.
And it’s often the time we take a holiday. But with all the lockdowns going on, and international travel banned, many of us bunked down and explored our local regions this year.
It got me thinking about past holidays and travel adventures.
While I won’t bore you with my holiday stories and happy snaps (I saved that for my family!), I’d like to share my story of how Sam Says came to life.
The magic of Machu Picchu
If you’ve never visited Machu Picchu, you’ve got to put it on your travel bucket list. It’s located in the Amazon Rain Forrest of Peru, is one of the 7 wonders of the world, and is home of the ancient Inca civilisation.
Machu Picchu is known as one of the most spiritually aligning places in the world and provides many visitors with a transformational experience.
This is because ‘the lost city’ has an energy vortex, a geographic location on the metaphysical map that amplifies your energy. You’ll find your vibrations and frequency will begin to match the surrounding energy of Machu Picchu.
The moment my energy aligned
The Peru Rain Forrest is absolutely stunning. It’s a place that you wouldn’t believe unless you see (and feel it) for yourself.
Sorry if this sounds fluffy and I know it isn’t for everyone, but in Machu Picchu, it truly feels like a magical force is at work. Not only are you in one of the most gorgeous locations in the world, but your energy and chakras align.
I was on a 4-day trekking adventure. On one of the days, I stopped at the top of a mountain. I started thinking about my future and what I was going to do with my career.
The magic of the energy vortex took over, and before long, I’d come up with my business name, Sam Says. I still didn’t know what title or role to give myself, but I’d finally decided I had to take the leap and start a business.
Back home, I started to learn more about social media and saw many marketing roles heading this way (back in 2012).
I was already in marketing, so I dug a little deeper and decided to learn more about Facebook for business.
I soon realised that not everyone will love this ‘new online marketing’ thing and that there was a need for a done for you social media management service.
And so Sam Says was officially born.
What’s your brand story?
I’d love for you to share your brand story, or tales of your experience at Machu Picchu if you’ve been lucky enough to visit. What made you decide on your business name, or how did you work out what to offer in your business?
